Rower, bike or treadmill for a home gym?
Walking at a desk, cycling intervals and regular running need different machines and different rooms.
How we choose equipment About our buying links
Buy the movement you already enjoy, or the one you specifically want to practise. RowErg suits regular rowing, BikeErg suits cycling, and Echo Bike adds moving arm handles. WalkingPad R2 is the compact desk-walking option; its short belt should not be treated as equivalent to a full-size running treadmill.

The shortlist

KingSmith WalkingPad R2
R2 runs up to 6 km/h with the handrail down and 12 km/h raised. Its 120 × 44 cm belt and folding deck define the space trade-off.

Concept2 RowErg with PM5 — standard legs
RowErg includes PM5 monitoring and free ErgData logging. It separates into two sections after use, but needs the full rowing area during a session.

Concept2 BikeErg with PM5 — standard seat
BikeErg has fixed handlebars and a flywheel clutch. Its recommended use area is shorter than RowErg’s, although the bike stays assembled for storage.

Rogue Echo Bike V3.0 — standard console

A screen earns its price through use
PM5 and ErgData cover workout records on RowErg and BikeErg without a paid training subscription. If you follow your own intervals or steady sessions, that may cover everything you need.
The US NordicTrack 1750 adds a 16-inch pivoting touchscreen and a 22 × 60-inch belt. Full on-machine iFIT content needs the paid plan and Wi-Fi. Australian 1750 listings may describe a different model, so use the actual model number when choosing a local offer.
Try the effort you expect to use
An air bike’s fan and a treadmill’s motor and footfall make different kinds of noise. A demonstration at the lowest setting will not tell you how either behaves during intervals or running. The time of day and adjoining rooms should influence where you place it.
For BikeErg, the selected standard seat-to-pedal range is about 78–104 cm. For a treadmill, leave yourself enough belt for your stride. These fit questions matter before another screen feature or accessory.
Buy the second machine for a separate job
Two people training together can justify two cardio stations immediately. For one person, give the second machine its own role, such as regular running alongside rowing, and reserve its working area before ordering.
