Flooring, storage and cooling for a home gym

Practical room purchases from Bunnings and specialist gym suppliers, from surface protection to a dedicated lifting platform.

How we choose equipment About our buying links

Spend first on the floor area you use, a place for loose equipment and cooling where you train. Bunnings offers ordinary garage and room supplies; specialist gym storage and lifting platforms become useful when the equipment load or training setup calls for them.

Measure the covered area before buying packs

Twenty-five one-metre-square tiles cover 25 m² before cuts and layout losses. A smaller room may need a different pack size, while thresholds and an irregular edge can change how much of a pack you use. Draw the tile layout before ordering.

The CORTEX pack is supplied through Bunnings Marketplace and is not an in-store pickup item. Its delivery arrangement belongs in the comparison with a local gym-flooring seller. Thickness alone does not establish suitability for dropped weights or the floor’s structural capacity.

Heavy weights need storage designed for them

Garage shelves are useful for towels and accessories. A collection of dumbbells or plates needs the shape, loading arrangement and rating of the storage itself to suit those weights. Leave enough room to lift a pair out without twisting around another machine.

REP’s Modular Storage 2.0 offers different shelves and widths for larger collections. The ratings vary by shelf type, and 2.0 does not extend the original MSS. A small dumbbell pair may only need its own suitable stand.

What comes with a lifting platform?

Rogue’s linked Deadlift Platform is the frame-only US package. Rubber tiles or another specified lifting surface cost extra. The outside frame measures about 254 × 132 cm, which is larger than its nominal eight-by-four-foot lifting area.

Choose it for a dedicated deadlift position or the platform features you intend to use. Include the surface and freight in its quote. For other equipment, covering the required floor area and arranging storage may be the more useful first purchase.
