Equipment safety and product recalls
Find the instructions and recall information for the exact model, and know when to stop using it.
Safe use begins with the correct assembly, setup and limits for the equipment you own. Keep the model and serial details, read the manual and check for recalls when buying or investigating a fault. A listing’s maximum capacity is not a substitute for the specified safety fittings or installation.

RowErg combines an air flywheel, sliding seat and PM5 workout monitor. This standard-leg model separates into two sections without tools, keeping storage manageable once the rowing area is clear.

Search Product Safety Australia using the brand and product name, then compare the model, date or batch details in any notice with the label on the machine. A similar name does not prove inclusion or exclusion. Ask the supplier when the affected range is unclear.
A search that returns no matching notice does not certify a product’s condition or safety. An individual machine may still be damaged, incorrectly assembled or missing a part. Keep the seller’s advertisement and order details so the exact supplied version can be identified.

Follow the notice if the equipment is recalled
Product Safety Australia advises following the recall instructions, including stopping use where directed. Contact the responsible business using the notice’s details and follow the specified remedy. Do not assume a privately suggested modification is an equivalent repair.
For a used item, ask whether a relevant recall remedy has been completed and request records. A low asking price does not reduce the need to resolve a safety defect before the intended use.

Set up the safety system, not just the frame
For a rack, bench, Smith or cable machine, identify every adjustment lock, stop and safety component described in its manual. Check the required installation and supported configuration. A rack capacity alone does not establish the rating of a separate attachment or an improvised setup.
Make the ordinary adjustments before applying a training load. Keep fingers and loose items clear of moving mechanisms, use the manufacturer’s specified loading arrangement, and inspect the relevant parts as directed. Seek help from the supplier or a qualified installer if the instructions or component identity are uncertain.

Treadmills need particular attention around children
Product Safety Australia highlights the risk of serious friction burns from moving treadmill belts. Keep children away from the equipment during use and follow the instructions for stopping, securing and storing it. The danger is not limited to someone running on the belt.
Read the model’s emergency-stop and clearance instructions before the first session. Use the equipment in a space that supports those requirements. A compact advertised footprint does not include every area that must remain clear while it runs.

Respond to damage without recreating the failure
Stop using a component that no longer locks, a visibly damaged cable or another fault that makes safe operation uncertain. Record the model, symptoms and photographs that can be taken without loading or energising the fault. Send that information to the seller or appropriate service contact.
For electrical equipment, visible checks cannot establish everything about its safety. Follow the relevant safety guidance and use qualified assistance for assessment or repair. Do not open mains-powered equipment to diagnose a fault yourself.

Keep a small record you can find later
Store the receipt, model-label photograph, manual, installer details and any service or recall correspondence together. This is especially useful when a product has several generations under a similar name. Update the record if the manufacturer replaces a component or changes an instruction.
