Floor space can settle this decision
A machine that requires the bench to be moved before every session has a cost in daily effort. BikeErg’s shorter working area is a real advantage in a spare room. RowErg’s two-piece storage helps between sessions, but the full length is needed again as soon as you row.

Choose the activity you want to practise
RowErg asks you to coordinate the sliding seat, handle and stroke. Buy it if learning or practising rowing is part of the appeal. BikeErg keeps the handlebars fixed and uses a clutch so the flywheel can continue turning while your feet stop. It is the direct choice for a rider seeking indoor cycling.
Taller RowErg legs raise the seat rather than lengthening the stroke. A lower-seat BikeErg is a different configuration. Put fit ahead of accessories; neither a familiar monitor nor a small footprint compensates for the wrong seat arrangement.
One cardio machine is enough to start
Concept2 Australia lists both models, and both offer PM5 workout recording with free ErgData logging. Start with the activity you expect to repeat. A second machine is a worthwhile premium addition when two people train together or both activities have a regular place in the week; occasional curiosity is a weaker reason to surrender another part of the room.
