A rack and barbell station alongside one RowErg, with enough room to move directly from lifting to rowing. Reuse the strength equipment you already have and put the first new money into the missing half of the room.
Save the build, remove anything you already own and add your delivered quotes. Freight, flooring and installation have their own lines in the budget.

Nighthawk offers seven back angles from flat to 85°, four seat positions and upright storage. At 40 kg, its shorter frame takes less moving than REP’s heavier AB-5200 or BlackWing.

Rogue’s USA Aluminum collars use hinged nylon levers and internal rubber linings to clamp Olympic bar sleeves. The supplied pair weighs half a pound, with each collar occupying 1.5 inches of sleeve.

RowErg combines an air flywheel, sliding seat and PM5 workout monitor. This standard-leg model separates into two sections without tools, keeping storage manageable once the rowing area is clear.

For a lifter who already owns a suitable rack or Smith, bench and weights, the RowErg can be the entire first purchase. Keep the strength setup and allocate the rower a usable area. This build does not require replacing equipment that already covers the programme.
From an empty garage, buy the strength items as one complete group: RML-390F, Nighthawk, Ohio Power Bar, Echo bumpers and Olympic collars. That gives the room a working barbell station even if the rower arrives later. The rack’s J-cups and safeties are already included.
Give rowing the recommended use area, with the loaded bar ends and plate-changing space outside it. Keeping that area clear lets a session finish with rowing without moving the bench into a walkway.
| Part of the room | Space or load to plan | Practical consequence |
|---|---|---|
| RowErg | 274 × 122 cm recommended use area | Reserve the full stroke area, not just the 244 × 61 cm frame |
| Barbell station | About 2.2 m of bar length, plus sleeve access | Load both ends without entering the rower’s working area |
| Starting barbell load | 110 kg before collars | Add change plates and further heavy pairs to suit current lifts |
The build has three Australian buying routes. Keep each delivery quote in its own cost line unless a seller has explicitly combined it with another order.
| Seller | Items in this build |
|---|---|
| Rogue Australia | RML-390F, stainless Ohio Power Bar and 90 kg Echo set; HG 2.0 collars as the local substitution |
| Gym and Fitness | Nighthawk bench |
| Concept2 Australia | RowErg with PM5 and standard legs |
Plate storage, smaller load increments and an accessible bench position can improve every lifting session. The RowErg already includes its PM5; there is no need to buy a second cardio machine to complete the room. Add a bike or cable station later for a regular activity or a second person training, once the layout shows that both stations will stay usable.
Where the room must be shared, RowErg separates into two sections without tools. Choose the storage position alongside the working position. A machine that fits only when another essential piece is buried behind it has not solved the layout.
